STEM Robotics
Mebane Foundation provided funds to introduce and support robotics in Davie County Schools’ six elementary schools. So far, the results have been impressive:
- Established Lego League
- Created 8 teams at Cooleemee, Pinebrook, Shady Grove, William Ellis and North Davie elementary schools
- 51 students participated the first Lego League
- 3 Davie County Schools Lego League teams qualified to compete in the First Lego League Championships at North Carolina A&T State University
- Our trainers are enrolled in Train the Trainer courses on Lego Mindstorms NXT
- We are training teachers, parents and volunteers to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots
- 102 Lego Mindstorm robots sets have been purchased for the 6 elementary schools
- 96 robots will be used in 4th and 5th grade classrooms during 2011-12 school year
