About the Foundation

Mebane Charitable Foundation was founded by G. Allen Mebane IV in 1992. Since 2000, the Foundation has pledged and awarded grants totaling more than $8,500,000 to organizations in North Carolina, Kentucky, New York and California.

In recent years the Foundation has narrowed its focus significantly, with the majority of its funding directed toward improving public education in North Carolina, but more specifically in Davie and surrounding counties. As well, Mebane Charitable Foundation promotes early childhood initiatives for children, both inside and outside the public school system.

Proposals are accepted throughout the year. For consideration by the board of directors at its fall meeting, a completed application must be postmarked by July 1st and for consideration at the spring meeting, by January 1st. Due to the narrow focus of the Foundation’s giving it is recommended that potential grantee contact the Foundation for a phone interview prior to submitting a formal application.

The Foundation is located in town of Mocksville in Davie, North Carolina. The office hours of operation are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
